Time and Time Again
Back in 2021, Pepsi brought back Pepsi Blue, one of the more daring and memorable flavors of the early 2000s. One that Millenials definitely remember…for both good and bad reasons. Nothing like drinking a berry flavored Pepsi that looks more like a bottle of Windex while driving down to the beach with your friends while blasting Linkin Park. That…that may be recounted from experience. Don’t judge me and my early 2000s youth. It was siiiiick bro. Oh and check out this commercial featuring the band Sev. It’s uh…yeah it’s certainly the 2000s:
Yeah fine. Ok, that was lame but Sev was a pretty lame band themselves. Here’s that Papa Roach commercial to make up for it.
Yeah thats more like it.
So when da blue stuff was brought back, I knew I at least had to have a bottle of it to save for prosperity and add to my Pepsi collection. So I got one. And…it just sat there…for 4 years until the bottle itself became warped and started to resemble an alien from Jabbas Palace in Return of the Jedi instead of a soda bottle itself. So, as I mentioned in my previous post, I’m moving and that means I’m trashing crap I don’t need and as much I love collecting Pepsi cans…the bottles, not so much. I’m not exactly the biggest fan of having bottles that look weird as they age. Plus, with cans, I can just drain them and put them on display. Bottles look like trash.
I’m writing this post to commemorate this weird trophy I purchased at a corner gas station back in Rochester on a nice hot August day. It followed me from there to my current place and what a journey we had. Sadly, staring at it for 4 years was enough and I flushed it down the toilet and it stunk. Not as bad as I expected, but it still stunk. I was ready though. Reading all those old X-Entertainment and DinoDrac articles where Matt was opening old Chef Boyardee cans and old cereal boxes prepared me for this. I was ready to say good bye but had my wax warmers and even a strong candle going just in case it smelled like a ghost of sodas past ready to haunt me.
RIP Pepsi Blue Bottle
2021-2025
Til we meet again. Next time I’ll buy a can though.
