Garfield and Mr T: When Worlds Collide
There may be no greater 1980s icon than Mr. T. His voice, his sneer, his mowhawk and jewelry, his name, his tough guy with a heart of gold persona and of course his ability to player hate on Roddy Piper. He had it all! Thanks to his starring role on The A-Team and his ungodly level of charisma, T had an open door policy in all of pop culture which lead to appearances, cameos, even an album or two! I pity the fool who didn’t lead their life according to Mr T’s Commandments album! So of course his rise in popularity would also lead to much lampooning. Mr T would become the face of many jokes by comedians, writers, cartoonists, even an SNL sketch here or there, but they all seemed to be in good fun…mainly because Mr T could kill you if he wanted to, I’m sure. But there’s one parody of Mr T that has stuck out in my mind for a while now and thanks to my friend and podcast partner Derek , I was able to get my hands on it. Yup! Mr G!
